Objective of the game

Soccer Tennis is a hybrid sport that combines elements of soccer and tennis. The goal is to kick, head, or pass the soccer ball over a net into the opponent’s side while following specific bounce and touch limits. Players score points when their opponents fail to return the ball within the allowed rules.

Players & Equipment

  • Players:
    • Can be played 1v1 (singles), 2v2 (doubles), or 3v3 (triples).
    • Players can use any part of their body except their hands and arms.
  • Equipment:
    • 1 Soccer Ball: Size 3, 4, or 5, depending on the skill level.
    • Net: A tennis net, volleyball net, or a rope set at a height of 3-4 feet.
    • Court: 
      • Can be played on a tennis court, grass, sand, or an open area.
      • standard court is 36 feet long and 12-20 feet wide, but this can be adjusted.

 

Game Setup

  1. Choosing Teams & Starting the Game
  • Players decide serving order by a coin toss or rally challenge.
  • The server must stand behind the baseline to start the point.
  1. Court Layout
  • The court is divided into two halves, with a net in the center.
  • The ball must land in the opponent’s half on a legal serve and return.

Gameplay

  1. Serving the Ball
  • The server kicks or volleys the ball over the net into the opponent’s half.
  • The serve must bounce once before the opposing team can return it.
  • If the serve lands out of bounds or into the net, it results in a fault.
  1. Ball Contact & Rally Rules
  • Players can use their feet, thighs, chest, and head to control the ball.
  • The ball can bounce once per side before being returned.
  • In singles (1v1): A player can take up to two touches before returning the ball.
  • In doubles/triples (2v2 or 3v3)
    • Teams have up to three touches before returning the ball.
    • Players must alternate touches (the same player cannot hit twice in a row).
  1. Scoring System
  • A point is awarded if the opponent: 
    • Fails to return the ball within the touch limit.
    • Lets the ball bounce more than once.
    • Kicks the ball out of bounds.
    • Hits the ball into the net.
  • Games are played to 11, 15, or 21 points, with a 2-point winning margin.

Winning the Game

  • The first player or team to reach the designated points with a 2-point lead wins.
  • Matches can be played in a best-of-three or best-of-five sets format.

Additional Rules & Variations

  1. Out-of-Bounds Rule
  • If the ball lands outside the playing area, the opposing team wins the point.
  1. No Hands Rule
  • Players cannot use their hands or arms at any point.
  1. Blocking & Net Touch Rule
  • Players cannot touch the net or interfere with an opponent’s movement.
  1. Trick Shot Mode (Optional)
  • Players can attempt volley shots, chip shots, and backspin shots for added difficulty.
  1. Team Play Variation
  • Teams must pass at least once before returning the ball.
